What role should a candidate's faith play in a voter's decision to elect them to office?

I don't think that faith should play a role in a voter's decision in the election. I know that many churches around the nation use scripcture from the bible to support whichever candidate they think is best. I think that the church should stop trying to manipulate it's congregation, and allow each person to decide for themselves. That's the greatest freedom in this country. After all, even slaveholders used the bible to support enslavement back in the 1800's.
